Prerequisites and Access
Before creating a DR setup, verify that the required license module is active, permissions are assigned, and clusters meet Cluster Linking compatibility requirements.
License Requirements
Section titled “License Requirements”The DR feature requires the DR module to be enabled on your license.
- If the DR section is not visible in the Dashboard, the DR module is not active. Contact your administrator.
- The license enforces a maximum number of DR setups. If the quota is reached, the + New DR Setup button will be disabled.
Required Permissions

Contact your administrator if any of these permissions are missing from your role.
Cluster Compatibility
Section titled “Cluster Compatibility”DR uses Cluster Linking as the replication tool. Cluster Linking has the following platform requirements:

All clusters must be registered in Pre-Migration Setup -> Kafka Clusters before they can be selected in the DR wizard.
Connectivity Tests
Section titled “Connectivity Tests”Each cluster must pass a connectivity test before the topology step can be completed. Tests run automatically when a cluster is added to the topology. A cluster that fails its connectivity test will block the wizard from advancing.
Schema Registry Requirements
Section titled “Schema Registry Requirements”Schema registry prerequisites apply only when schema replication is enabled in the topology step.
- A schema registry must be assigned to each cluster in the topology.
- Each assigned schema registry must pass a connection test.
- Schema replication is not supported for WarpStream clusters. The schema linking toggle is automatically disabled when a WarpStream cluster is present in the topology.
