Resource Selection

Resource Selection specifies which Kafka resources are replicated for each link and direction in the DR setup.

Structure

Resources are configured per link and per direction. The step shows one accordion per link. Inside each accordion, a tab appears for each active direction:

• Forward: replication from Cluster A to Cluster B
• Reverse: replication from Cluster B to Cluster A (Active-Active and Hybrid only)

Each direction has independent resource selections for Topics, Consumer Groups, and Schemas.

Empty State

If no links are configured, an alert is shown: No links defined. Go back to the Cluster Topology step and add at least one link before selecting resources.

Topics

Option	Description

Consumer Groups

Consumer group offset sync is configured per direction. It uses the same scope options as topics.

• The enable/disable toggle records whether this direction opts into offset sync, and the scope beneath it decides which groups the direction contributes to the link’s offset filter.
• Leaving it enabled is strongly recommended. A direction that is meant to sync offsets but is left disabled is recorded as opted out, which is what the Monitor tab and the pre-flight checks report on.

Tip

Consumer group offset sync matters after a failover: without committed offsets on the destination cluster, consumers may replay or skip messages. Set it deliberately for each direction rather than leaving the default in place unexamined.

Caution

This toggle and CG Offset Sync in Infrastructure Settings do different jobs. The Infrastructure setting is the on/off switch: it decides whether the cluster link is created with consumer group offset sync enabled at all. This per-direction toggle and the scope beneath it decide which groups the link’s offset filter covers.

Turning this per-direction toggle off does not by itself stop offsets from syncing. The link is still created with offset sync enabled, and a direction with no explicit scope falls back to matching all groups. To stop offset sync for a link, turn off CG Offset Sync in Infrastructure Settings.

Turning it off does change what the suite reports. X-Ray raises “Consumer group offset sync disabled” for that direction, and pre-flight checks warn that sync is disabled on it, while the link keeps syncing. Treat a disabled per-direction toggle as an unreliable indicator and confirm the link-level setting before you act on it.

What actually syncs then depends on the scope the direction was left holding, which the toggle hides but does not clear. On the default all-groups scope, every group’s offsets sync. With a named selection, exactly those groups sync. With a selection scope and nothing named, no groups sync, which is the one combination where turning the toggle off has the effect you expected.

Schemas

The Schemas section is only shown when schema replication was enabled in the Cluster Topology step.

Schema subjects are scoped per source/destination cluster pair. Subjects use the same scope, wildcard, and exclusion options as topics.

License Limits

The following license limits apply per DR setup. Inline alerts appear when a limit is exceeded, and the wizard blocks Continue until the selection is reduced.
